This is a gallery of some of the neo pin-ups I've done for No-Fi "Magazine", friends, and other sites. I am available to shoot for other sites and publications in L.A.
Idyl Rose at Shock-o-rama a go-go 2003
So while this is my favorite photo from this shoot, I have to say that almost every photo of her came out great that night. This is good.
It had to be worth it...
Because to get this shot (and the other shots), we had to be trapped outdoors, in what had to be 50 degrees or below temperatures, behind the Vine Theatre in Hollywood, surrounded by barbed wire, with her in that costume...or the bits of thread that made up that costume anyway.
I was helping to run this film festival and added Miss Idyl Rose as a last minute act to promote the next night's burlesque show as part of this 24 hour film festival. After her act, which was excellent, we went behind the theatre to take some pictures with the Capital Records building in the background...
We didn't know that the doors behind the theatre were heavy firedoors and when they shut, they locked us outside. After the photos and realizing what had happened, we looked for ways to escape. We could peer over the barbwire lined wall to see the parking lot of the Avalon theatre below and yelled for help from the security at the Avalon Theatre who were leaving their shift for the night. The theatre was just around the corner from the Avalon. ...about a 4 minute walk - if even that. One security lady says this...
"There's no way I can walk over there."
The rest of the "security force" ignores us.
After close to 45 minutes pass, the Vine Theatre's security guard opens the door saying that the fire department was called. We hurried in and mentally whistled innocently as the Firemen passes us.
Because of that...and the fact that they did come out great...these were some of the best pictures ever shot by me EVER!!!! (imagine my fists raised up in the air in victory here.)
Idyl Rose is supercool and has been featured on one of our No-Fi "Magazine" covers from a picture I shot at Exotic World.
